Greetings from Oak Glen!
Our first trip to Riley's Apple Farm and it was a fun one!
My adorable little bear all ready to pick some apples that day
Mommy, Dylan shot before we get to work
Dylan, a little confused at first, was taking the apples out of the bag and putting them in the apple picker haha;)
Dylan with his Papa searching for the spot with the best apples
Daddy helping man the stick ;)
Dylan again totally in the dark about what we are trying to achieve while we are here
look at those manly biceps...
who needs the stick? Lets have Dylan grab them! :)
An apple alittle more on his level ;)
My little apple picker! <3
obviously counting how many apples he still needs to take out of the bag and put back on the ground here...;)
Who needs to pick them from the trees when they have a huge bin of them right BY the trees??;)
weighing and paying
Awe Dylan and Grandma...this was Grandma's idea to come and it was a good one!
hoecakes = pankcakes with pumpkin butter and apple butter...yes please!
picking out some souvenirs at the shop... he left with a wooden snake- a fine choice I think!:)
not much of a shopper...
money bags right here
This is where we made our own apple cider for the first time! It was my favorite part of the trip it was so cute and fun for Dylan
first we hand selected each individual apple for plumpness and ripeness...
Ahhh Dylan found a flaw in that one "see mommy a scratch"
Grandma and Dylan are obviously very choosy
Next you wash them in a big bin of FREEZING water- this was Dylan's favorite part for sure!
See! Splashing daddy in the face with freezing cold water is a lot of fun!!
After you clean them with no soap only water and put them back into the same dirty bucket...you take them over to this thing - this is where the magic happens
all the boys pressing the apples to make our cider:)
Dylan is such a good helper!! <3<3
Here he is even helping turn the wheel!
Cutest face ever...i think so:)
and there it is people...our delish fresh cider in the making!
pouring our victory into a bottle to take home
TA DA!! Course even with all the extreme cleaning we did, Papa didnt let myself or Dylan drink the cider cold because he was afraid of listeria;)
We found a cute little restaurant with a shop attached to it for lunch before we headed home
My little cutie
as Dylan would say... CHEESE!
Back home with our apple butter, apricot jam, holiday trinkets for the house and a new ornament to remember our fun trip to put on our xmas tree this year!
