st pattys day fun.

catching up on a few blog posts that I've had in draft mode for a while.😉
st pattys day this year.
the boys worked on their leprechaun one evening after dinner. this was fun for me to clean up - not. totally worth it though haha the usual routine each year is I just gather a bunch of random ribbons, stickers, basically anything from the craft buckets I have that I don't mind them using (destroying) haha along with crayons, markers, glue and this year I found some little boxes at micheals that I put out for them to use as the base of their "traps". each year their goal is to catch our assigned leprechaun "Lucky". now they are reminded that nobody we know has ever caught a leprechaun but they still are welcome to try. they always enjoy the challenge and they know either way he usually leaves them some goodies the next morning for their efforts. 🌈
finding the perfect spot is also fun to watch as they try to plot out where he may enter the house. ayden chose this corner by the kitchen while dylan went straight for the front door.
aaron prides himself on his excellent letter writing skills so he is in charge of the letter from lucky as well as reading it aloud that morning. I have fun putting this silly stuff together for them. it is no joke always a scrabble to finish before they wake but thats half the fun right?! haha. it always seems to get done somehow, not always the vision I had in mind but thats not the point of it. they get a kick out of it so I'm happy.

lucky always manages to escape their traps and make a mess of them. ;) the kids love that.
this year instead of lucky charms I went with some cinnamon rolls that I attempted to make into four leaf clovers. I colored the icing green and then added some green sprinkles.

their outfits this day were hilarious. they love emojis so when I saw these on the children's place website a month prior I was so excited to show them. they asked all week when they could wear them.

after school we headed to grandma and pa's for the cutest (and yummiest) dinner. mj always makes corn beef on st pattys and we never turn down her invite to enjoy it with them. this year she made green beer and mint chip pazzokies to accompany it all too. so good. the night ended with a green silly string fight.💚 and I mean seriously how cute are these green pazookies?!🙌
