such a fun day yesterday..crazy sock day and ayden’s first first trip to centennial farm. aaron came with me and after a quick trip to the park for some playtime and lunch, we enjoyed a little day date while ayden toured the farm. parents are not allowed in..but honestly didn't mind because we got to go off to explore for a bit. the teacher sent me some pictures while they were inside the farm (which ayden said his favorite part was holding the baby chicks, so I’m so thankful the teachers captured that for me) and afterwards we tried out a new ice cream place we found on the way home..which ayden gave two thumbs up to.
my favorite part of the day was the excitement ayden had for it all. he had been sick all week and honestly I wasn't sure until the day of if he would even be able to go. thankfully he woke up full of energy and excitement. the day was a bit bittersweet because I couldn't help but reminisce about how just a couple years ago dylan was this tiny and I was dropping him off at this farm with his classmates. now he is a big second grader, 7 going on 17 and way too cool to give me bear hugs at school. really? already this starts? we fist pump now. I'm trying to soak up even minute of kinder with ayden because I now know once they hit first grade my time to be involved in the classroom pretty much is left to holiday parties and once a week volunteer hours. knowing exactly how fast it goes and really being mindful of how I spend my time. my focuses have changed steering away from spending time on things I once found enjoyable and focusing more time connecting and having face time with friends, taking more orange theory and pilates classes, enjoying eating out less and cooking at home, reading, listening to podcasts and just enjoying quiet moments..as a result I have experienced a sense of calm this year. I don't know if is just me getting older and mellowing out haha or perhaps growing from all the change I am experiencing in this new season with the boys not being babies or toddlers anymore. probably a bit of both. I'd be lying if I said that change is easy for me.. its been a struggle opening my time hop app daily looking back at all the things that once used to be so fun to the boys knowing that its no longer stuff that they would be interested in doing. yet its out of my control and although I have moments of sadness for the time that is now over, I also look forward to everything that I still get to experience with them. I think motherhood is one of those things where you are having so much fun and are so busy everyday that each season flys by. you never want it to change and yet you are fully aware of how it is because you have these little humans growing and changing so rapidly before your eyes. things change but do you even realize its happening as it happens? my friend shared with me this great podcast the other day that put it all into words so well. those moments that you feel a certain way but only your heart recognizes it.. later you realize it was growth you were experiencing because of a change in your life was happening but there is almost a disconnect between heart and mind..or is it denial. each age has brought so much joy to our lives..there are so many moments where aaron and I just sit back and ponder it all together wishing it would all slow down just a bit.💛

loved this cultivate women’s conference a few weeks back.💛 one of my favorite authors lysa terkeurst was a speaker and I enjoyed finally getting a chance to hear her speak. she is truly such an amazing speaker. They also had the cutest market throughout the church on Friday night which we had fun walking around looking at all the eye candy women have made to sell. I purchased the most adorable banner that a lady had crocheted and some super cute cookies (from one of our cookie ladies who was there) for the boys and my mom. I’m thankful my friend invited me and look forward to the women’s bible study we started there together as well.
volunteering has its perks. I have been love getting to be on campus with the boys..whether it be helping out in their classes on picture day and book fair days, or computer lab days, random silly parties I make up (“2 weeks in 2nd grade” “sammy and aydens cupcake party”) or just bringing them lunch occasionally to sit, chat and love on them a bit.❤️
