Taking a minute to back blog a bit and add some post from my other blog to this one in my attempt to simplify. π I seriously loved looking back on this day.. so much fun putting it all together and then watching the fun unfold that day. I've been feeling a bit uninspired lately so I am really loving looking back at all the effort I made in the past and feeling excited to create more fun memories this summer.
It was definitely a struggle coming up with new ideas but ended up doing wrapped gifts with clues in them and put a time on each of them. I included the number four (his new ageπ) in each. So 9:04 am, 9:44, 10:14 etc. Of course our day was completely off schedule and we ended up way behind, ending our day after 6pm instead of 3pm as planned, but with us that is to be expected. ;)
I incorporated a few that we used for nye but added little twists to make them for everyone. Like the cinnamon roll art during breakfast, everyone did a message or picture for ayden and then he got to pick his favorite and the winner got a prize. So funny seeing what everyone came up with! Kim did a power ranger (made entirely of cinnamon rolls) and covered it with ketchup to be his favorite, the red ranger. π Our water ballon battle was hilarious and yet a bit dangerous at times. Other activities included a trip to his favorite store, toys r us to pick out a new toy, the boys first trip to the skating rink and swimming end the day. They had been talking about wanting to go roller skating for a while now, they saw it on a movie. Naturally Ayden was over it pretty quick but dylan loved it. he was all over the place and could not stand up at all but he was still grooving to music as we held him haha. I haven't skated in years so it was actually really fun getting out there again.
I ran out of time to wrap the dads gifts but they each had a box with a time on it as well. Their clue took them to get massages in shirts the boys decorated for them. my dad was thrilled about the shirts haha. they did this while we went to toys r us and skating. They met up with us and all headed back to the house for lunch, cake, ice cream and our last clue of the day. My mom made my favorite, homemade taqutios (no joke -thee best) for lunch and helped with cleaning up. I'm so grateful for all her help, I couldn't have done it all without her. She even came early and helped with breakfast preparations. I decided on a "make your own breakfast burrito bar" for that morning because its aaron and my dads favorite and who doesn't love a good breakfast burrito?π we did all their favorites- eggs, bacon, sausage, potatoes, beans, cheese and homemade guacamole. The last silly little detail of the day that I thought would be fun was a photo challenge for everyone to do throughout the day. I gave everyone a list of items that personally I wanted pictures of. Like "a selfie with the birthday boy" so I got a picture of everyone with him or "the boys on skates" because I'm not always on it with photos. Nobody got them all ....but mary jo was the declared winner because she got the most on the list, so she took home the target gift card. That reminds me I need everyone to send me their pictures....lol
Any day spent with the family is fun. We made some new memories, got to celebrate two amazing dads and our cute little ayden all in one day. Success.
