pa's birthday celebration.

because birthday celebrations are meant to last all month long;) although we did a cruise for my dads birthday, with so many people it was hard to spend any amount of time with just one person so we decided to have a little dinner at our house. the boys planned out and party prepped pretty much all by themselves. I took them to target and let them pick out the theme. It was no surprise when they decided on ninja turtles haha. dylan picked out the plates and napkins while ayden insisted that everyone had their own turtle masks. the rest of the stuff we had at home. the boys are currently obsessed with watching baking shows at home, their favorites being the kids baking championship and cake wars. aaron and I were cracking up when dylan suggested we used gum paste and a fondant for the cake. I ended up talking him into some green food dye to make the funfetti store cake mix green and buying some green icing- we will tackle the fondant at a later time haha;) here's a peek at some of their details:
the boys decided all by themselves that they wanted to wear coordinating shirts to fit their theme. they picked out the shirts they wanted to wear from their drawers. I love that I didn't even think to do this, I think I may be rubbing off on them a bit.;)

happy birthday pa!
they collected all the toys in the house they could find that was ninja turtle themed to decorate the table.
ayden always wants to put icing on the cake before its even in the oven so he can sample.;)
they decided on a heart shaped cake.
green funfetti goodness filled with just a few egg shells;)
we popped a balloon and then ayden hid in the corner whimpering scared we were going to pop more the entire time.
steak and shrimp fajitas for dinner and I had found a table questions game that we played while we ate. dylan (and my dad)   made everyone laugh and ayden found a way to make donetello (his favorite ninja turtle) the answer to every single question asked.
the boys "decorated" while we cleaned up dinner.
their finished product.

the turtle masks ayden picked out;)
our special blow up birthday cap for the reluctant birthday boy.

green hands and faces the rest of the night.
